PM probes are devices designed to test parameters of voice connection in PSTN/ISDN network.
PM probes allow to check different parameters of call establishment phase: time of establishment, signal levels, exchange signal recognition (routing, alarming) and call connection phase: attenuation across network, noise level etc. Additionaly, quality of connection can be tested by setting up modem connection inside voice channel and measuring bit error rate of transmission.
Probes can do series of tests following test scenario, uploaded to them from Test Center. Test Center uploads list of connections and set test to be executed in every connection. After tests are completed, detailed results can be downloded from Probe by Test Center. PM Probes are managed from Test Center by PSTN/ISDN connection.
PM-2 Probe
PM-2 Probes were the first version on probes for AWP-IŁ System. Each PM-2 Probe has two independent PSTN interfaces. Two interfaces allow two simultanous test connections or one test connection and a management connection to take place.
PM-3 Probe
PM-3 is next version of PM-2, with enchanced capabilities:
• Four simultanous connections
• Configurable set of interfaces
• POTS interface
• ISDN BRA S0 interface
• ISDN BRA U0 inerface
Having four interfaces, PM-3 allows either four simultanous tests, or three tests and a management connection with Test Center to take place.
